HeLLS AnGeLS

Here at The Angels Share we occasionally enjoy a drink ourselves, in this menu you can join us in enjoying just a few of our favourites. Some we created ourselves, some we appropriated and some, like old friends, we are not really sure where we picked up.

THE TOMMY'S MARGARITA £5.00
El Jimador blanco tequila with fresh lime and agave syrup. Invented by our buddy Mr Julio Bermejo in San Francisco, this seems to be the tequila drink de jour.

COSMOPOLITAN £6.00
Ketel One Citroen vodka with Cointreau, cranberry juice and fresh lime. We know they are a bit ubiquitous these days, you can probably get them in Starbucks now- but we still enjoy a Cosmo once in a while - just to get the ball rolling you understand...

THE GREEN HORNET £6.00
Zubrowska Bison Grass vodka and El Jimador blanco tequila shaken with fresh mint, lime and sugar. This is one of our own creations and we think it’s just charming.

THE ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL £6.50
Belvedere Orange Blossom vodka and Grants Morella Cherry Brandy with lemon juice, sugar and ginger ale. Floral and fruity, long and refreshing. It reminds us of running around in the meadows as a child - well Roundhay Park anyway.

THE HONEYSUCKLE COCKTAIL £6.00
Chairman’s Reserve rum from St Lucia with fresh lime and honey. We could drink this one all day long. Sometimes we do.

THE LS7 £7.00
Leeds 7 is the sunshine state. We all know that, but just occasionally the weatherman forgets. This is our own blend of rums and liqueurs mixed with exotic juices and decked with fruit, sure to chase the clouds away on even the greyest North Leeds day.

THE PIMMS RANGOON £5.00
A large measure of Pimms with ginger ale and enough fruit to make a fruit salad. If you’d prefer it with lemonade that’s fine or for an extra £1 why not trade up to sparkling wine?

THE SALLY CINAMMON £6.50
Vodka, apple and lime juice with cinnamon and gingerbread syrups, we borrowed this one from our sister bar on Call Lane - we suspect they won’t mind.

This selection of drinks all offer something to tempt you, briefly, away from the path of righteousness. Some are fuelled by strong liquor, one or two are, shall we say, a little on the spicy side and just a couple are laden with indulgent calories too numerous to mention.
Go on, treat yourself.

THE TINGWRAY £5.50
Wray and Nephew Overproof rum from Jamaica mixed with Jamaican sparkling grapefruit soda and just a little splash of cocktail bitters.

ANGELS SHARE ESPRESSO MARTINI £6.00
El Jimador Reposado Tequila with Haitian Coffee Liqueur, sugar and fresh espresso coffee. Shaken till ice cold and frothy.

THE BARBARA CARTLAND COCKTAILS £6.50
Coole Swan Irish Cream Liqueur and Southern Comfort blended with strawberries, milk and cream. This one is kind of like a strawberry milkshake - for grown ups.

THE BLOODY MARY £6.00
We are especially proud of our Bloody Mary here at The Angels Share, a fresh batch is made everyday and we’re afraid to say, when its gone its gone, all the more reason to come back tomorrow though.

DARK AND SPICY £6.00
Foursquare Spiced rum from Barbados with fresh lime and ginger beer. This wonderful spiced rum mixed with these classic ingredients really brings this drink to life.

ALEXANDER THE GREAT £6.50
Santa Theresa Rum from Venezuela with vanilla and dark chocolate liqueurs shaken with milk and cream and dusted with chocolate.

NAVY NEGRONI £8.00
Plymouth Navy Strength Gin with Campari and Antica Formula Sweet Vermouth. Served on the rocks with a wedge of orange and a twist of grapefruit. This is our absolute favourite pre dinner drink.

THE PORN STAR MARTINI £8.00
Vanilla vodka with fresh passion fruit and vanilla served with a side of sparkling wine. Sure it’s a little indulgent, but we reckon you deserve it.

The AnGeL of ISLinGtOn

kentucky AnGeLS

Gin is generally not aged in barrels, so the Angels don't often get a chance to sample this wondrous spirit. You however, dear friends, are luckier. All these drinks are made using our very favourite London Dry Gins, and a couple from slightly further afield.

THE RHUBARB RICKEY £5.00
Bombay Sapphire Gin and rhubarb liqueur mixed with soda water and fresh lime, ever so simple, ever so refreshing, ever so affordable.

THE BRAMBLE £6.00
Beefeater Gin with lemon juice, sugar and blackberry liqueur. Mr Dick Bradsell created this one right at the start of the modern UK cocktail revolution and it has become something of a classic in the last ten years or so. Some people shake it and some people stir it, so we asked Dick. He said it depended how busy he was. Either way we are quite sure you’ll enjoy.

THE CLOVER CLUB £7.00
Plymouth Gin shaken with fresh raspberries, lemon juice, sugar and egg white. Pink fluffy, a little bit sweet- but not overly. It’s the Barbie of the cocktail list - but so tasty we suspect Ken would probably order it too. Maybe even Tanner?

THE FRENCH 75 £7.00
Beefeater Gin shaken with sugar and lemon juice then charged with sparkling wine, we like to float a little French Pastis on top but if that is not to your liking we will gladly omit it.

THE BLIGHTY MOJITO £6.50
Its like the regular Mojito that you all, by now, know and love but with Hendricks Gin in place of rum, a little cucumber and a splash of tonic. This is the first one we reach for on a sunny day.

Our friends over in Kentucky believe that they have the thirstiest Angels of all, due to the heat down in the deep south they lose perhaps more spirit to the Angels Share than anyone else. On the plus side what the Angels leave behind is Bourbon and Rye Whiskey, and between them they can boast a selection of cocktails unparalleled by any other spirit. These are just a few of the best ones.

THE MANHATTAN £7.00
Rittenhouse American Rye Whiskey, Antica Formula Sweet Italian Vermouth, Noilly Prat Dry French Vermouth and Angostura Cocktail Bitters stirred and served straight up with a cherry.
This quintessential New York drink has metamorphosised somewhat since it’s first published recipe appeared in the 1884 edition of Jerry Thomas’s Bartenders Guide. This is our preferred version but if you like yours a different way we are only too happy to oblige.

THE WHISKEY SMASH £6.50
Makers Mark Bourbon muddled with fresh lemon, fresh mint and a little sugar, served over crushed ice and bedecked with mint. Created by a certain Mr Dale Degroff, or King Cocktail as he’s affectionately known, this delicious libation is perfect for those that enjoy the flavour of Bourbon but don’t necessarily want to drink a glass of straight liquor.

DERBY DAY PUNCH £7.00
Woodford Reserve Bourbon, apricot brandy, lemon juice and sparkling wine, brimming with fresh fruit and fresh mint. The Kentucky Derby has been described as the most exciting
two minutes in sport - we’d recommend you take a little longer than that to savour this wonderfully refreshing Punch.

THE OLD FASHIONED FROM £8.00
The Old Fashioned is perhaps the greatest way to enjoy a good quality Bourbon. Leisurely stirred with sugar and cocktail bitters, served over ice and with a subtle twist of orange, it somehow makes you feel a little more sophisticated and transports you back to a time when drinking was considered one of life's pleasures not one of its evils.

THE WHISKEY SOUR £6.00
Woodford Reserve with sugar, lemon and egg white. Don’t be scared off by the egg white - it doesn’t taste of anything and it brings a luxuriously smooth and soft feel to the drink, topped with a cherry and a twist of orange. Delightful!

THE BOILERMAKER FROM £5.75
Pick your favourite beer from our selection of American brews and your favourite bourbon from our top shelf and enjoy them at the same time. A drinking ritual pioneered by the steelworkers of Western Pennsylvania and still a great way to enjoy two of the best things in life - at the same time.
